2008 NRA Whistler Boy High Power Team Match

The NRA Whistler boy High Power and Smallbore Team Matches are very old and prestigious competitions held at Camp Perry and NRA has a responsibility to safeguard the integrity of these matches.

It is very difficult at times to corporate with another Association on match rules and regulations. This was the case this year with the NRA Whistler Boy High Power Rifle Team Match. Once again the CMP used competitor scores that were clearly shot "out of competition" without regard for the rules of the match to give aggregate junior awards. This is unfair to all of the teams that shot this match as a legal team according to the ruled.

The rules for team eligibility in the NRA Whistler Boy High Power Rifle Team Match are in the 2008 NRA National Match Program. It clearly defines legal team for this match on page 53 and I quote in part "Open to 2-person Junior State Association Teams, see rules 2.3 and 2.12 and Local Junior Club Teams (Rules 2.3 and 2.18). All team members, firing and non-firing must be from the same State and be registered with the Statistical Office . . . ."

Posted NRA scores are the only Official Scores for the NRA Whistler Boy Team Match. Deviations on the CMP web site are non-official due to the use of out of competition team scores.

Due to CMP's continued deviation to the rules, the NRA will no longer allow "out of competition" teams to fire in the NRA Whistler Boy High Power Team Match.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
